About golf in Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and has some of the best-known links golf in the world. The R&A counted 113 golf courses in Northern Ireland at the end of 2020 (The R&A, Golf Around the World 2021). Royal Portrush on the Antrim coast hosted The Open Championship in 1951, 2019 and 2025, and Royal County Down lies beneath the Mourne Mountains at Newcastle.
Much of the best golf follows the Atlantic and Irish Sea coastlines, where links courses sit among dunes and cliffs. Inland, the six counties of Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry and Tyrone also offer parkland and lakeside courses. Use the county filters below to browse courses in each part of Northern Ireland.
