About Close House Golf Club

Close House Golf Club is set in the Tyne Valley to the west of Newcastle upon Tyne, on an estate that has become one of the higher-profile golfing addresses in the North East. The club has hosted European Tour events, a level of competition that has required its layouts to meet championship standards of length, conditioning and course management. Its position within the Close House estate places it among parkland and riverside ground along the Tyne, in the same corridor as several other well-regarded North East courses. The estate setting brings a country house feel to the wider club, with the golf forming part of a larger leisure operation rather than standing as a standalone club in the traditional sense. Its location gives easy access from Newcastle, Hexham and the wider Tyneside conurbation, while still offering the more rural character of the Tyne Valley once play begins. The combination of tournament pedigree and estate surroundings has helped establish Close House as a recognised name well beyond its immediate area, drawing visiting golfers as well as a resident membership.
