Lansdown Golf Club sits on high ground to the north of Bath, in an area long associated with Lansdown Hill and its open, elevated landscape above the city. The course was designed by Harry Colt, whose layout is arranged so that, despite the hilltop position, the walking between holes remains manageable rather than arduous, with views extending over Bath and the surrounding Somerset countryside from several points on the course. Lansdown's position above Bath places it close to Lansdown Racecourse and the wider area historically linked to the English Civil War battle fought on the same hill.
