About Letchworth Golf Club

Letchworth Golf Club takes its name from the Hertfordshire town in which it sits, itself known as the first Garden City, planned in the early twentieth century as a model for combining housing, industry and green space within a single designed town. That planning tradition gave Letchworth an unusually high proportion of parks, tree-lined avenues and open land for a town of its size, and the golf club occupies a share of that green space within the wider settlement. The SG6 postcode covers the town and its immediate surroundings in north Hertfordshire, an area of gently rolling countryside between Hitchin and Baldock. Being built into a planned garden town rather than added to an existing settlement, the club sits among purpose-designed green corridors rather than land left over from other development, a distinction shared with few other golf clubs in the county. Letchworth's position in north Hertfordshire places the club within reach of both the town's own amenities and the wider countryside toward the Chilterns, giving members and visitors a base that reflects the town's long-standing emphasis on planned open space.
