About Rivenhall Oaks Golf Centre

Rivenhall Oaks Golf Centre is located near Witham in Essex, a town on the River Brain roughly midway between Chelmsford and Colchester on the old Roman road later followed by the modern A12. Witham grew significantly during the Victorian era after the arrival of the railway, and the surrounding area retains a mix of historic town centre streets alongside the newer residential development that has extended the town in recent decades. Rivenhall itself, the neighbouring village that gives the golf centre its name, sits just to the north-west, close to where the River Blackwater begins its course towards the Essex coast at Maldon. This part of Essex is generally flat to gently rolling, farmland dominated by arable fields interspersed with pockets of woodland, a landscape typical of the county's inland belt away from the more dramatic coastline further east. Essex as a whole has a substantial concentration of golf facilities relative to its size, reflecting both its large population within commuting distance of London and its flat, easily developed terrain. Rivenhall Oaks sits within that wider Essex golfing landscape, positioned to draw players from Witham, Braintree and the surrounding villages rather than serving as a single isolated venue in open countryside.
