About Alder Root Golf Club

Alder Root Golf Club is based near Warrington, a town that sits roughly midway between Liverpool and Manchester on the banks of the River Mersey. Warrington's position at this crossing point made it an important industrial and transport centre from the eighteenth century onward, and the land around the town today mixes former industrial sites with open farmland and reclaimed green space. Cheshire more broadly is known for its flat, fertile plain, dairy farmland historically dotted with mosses and meres, and golf courses in this part of the county tend to sit on level ground rather than the hillier terrain found further south and east toward the Peak District. Alder Root's location places it within reach of both Warrington itself and the surrounding villages, as well as the wider commuter belt that has grown up along the Mersey corridor between the two larger cities. The flat local terrain typical of this stretch of Cheshire generally makes for straightforward walking around a course.
