About Braxted Park Golf Club

Braxted Park Golf Club occupies parkland within the historic Braxted Park estate near Witham in Essex, a setting shaped by mature trees and the quiet, rural character typical of this part of the county's agricultural interior. The estate itself has a long history as a landed property, and the golf course makes use of grounds originally maintained as parkland rather than farmland, giving it the kind of established planting and open sightlines associated with courses built on former country estates. Witham lies a short distance away, a market town on the River Brain within easy reach of Chelmsford and the wider Essex commuter belt, while the surrounding countryside remains largely rural despite the proximity of the London to Colchester railway corridor. The quiet setting within the Braxted Park estate gives the course a degree of seclusion not always found on courses closer to Essex's more built-up areas, with the mature trees that survive from the estate's earlier use providing shelter and definition between holes. This combination of historic parkland, established planting and a rural Essex setting close to Witham gives Braxted Park a character distinct from the flatter, more open courses found elsewhere in the county's arable heartland.
