The course was laid out by George Lyle, whose nephew Sandy Lyle went on to win both the Open Championship and the Masters; Sandy Lyle holds the position of Honorary President at the club. Facilities include a bar and kitchen, and the club runs a fixture programme through the year alongside a knockout competition and reciprocal arrangements with other clubs, allowing members to arrange games away from Clober itself.
