Gullane Golf Club sits on the East Lothian coast a few miles along from North Berwick, on a stretch of duneland that has supported golf for well over a century. The club runs three separate courses across the exposed, sandy ground of Gullane Hill, terrain shaped by wind and sea rather than by deliberate landscaping. From the higher points of the hill the views open out across the Firth of Forth toward Fife on the opposite shore, a feature of the area's geography rather than of any single course.
