Thorpeness Golf Club occupies low heathland close to the Suffolk shore, a short distance from Aldeburgh, on ground first laid out in 1922 by James Braid, one of the era's leading course architects. The par-70 layout runs to roughly 6,311 yards over eighteen holes, and winds through pine, birch, gorse and heather, its soil quick to dry after rain and firm underfoot through summer. England Golf brought the Logan Trophy here in 2021, marking out the venue as a championship course. Thorpeness itself is known locally for its connection to the story of Peter Pan, and a mere-side garden along with a mini-golf course called Jiggers sit alongside the main eighteen as part of the wider estate.
