About Altrincham Municipal Golf Club

Altrincham Municipal Golf Club is an eighteen-hole course based in Trafford, within the town of Altrincham on the southern edge of Greater Manchester. As a municipal course, it operates on a more open, pay-and-play basis than many private members' clubs in the area, which has helped it build a large and varied following among golfers across the Northwest. Altrincham itself sits close to the boundary between Greater Manchester and Cheshire, and the club's identity reflects that overlap, drawing players from both the Manchester suburbs and the more rural Cheshire towns nearby. Municipal courses of this type typically prioritise accessibility, keeping green fees lower than private clubs and allowing golfers to book a round without committing to membership, and Altrincham follows that model closely. This approach has made it one of the busier courses in the region, particularly among golfers looking for a straightforward round without the formalities associated with some private clubs. The course sits within reach of central Manchester as well as the market towns of Cheshire, giving it a wide catchment area. For visitors unfamiliar with the Northwest's golf scene, Altrincham Municipal offers an accessible starting point, combining a well-used eighteen-hole layout with the convenience of open access golf.
