About Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel

Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel dates from 1973 and offers an 18-hole course playing to a par of 71. The postcode, CF82, places it in the South Wales valleys around Caerphilly and Blackwood, an area of steep, wooded hillsides shaped by the region's coal-mining history and now largely given over to farmland, forestry and small former colliery towns. The valleys landscape here is generally hillier and more wooded than the flatter coastal plain further south, a contrast common across this part of the former South Wales coalfield. The club's combination of hotel and golf course reflects a wider pattern in this part of Wales, where former industrial land has been repurposed for leisure and tourism since the decline of mining. Cardiff lies around twenty miles to the south, making Bryn Meadows accessible from the capital while sitting firmly within the valleys landscape rather than the coastal plain. Founded over fifty years ago, the club predates much of the area's post-industrial redevelopment.
