About Whitehall Golf Club

Whitehall Golf Club sits near Nelson, a village close to the boundary of Rhondda Cynon Taf in the south Wales valleys. The approach to the club is distinctive enough that directions mention passing a welcome sign for Rhondda Cynon Taf before a sharp turn near the Llechwen Hall Hotel, which gives some sense of the wooded, hilly lanes typical of this part of the valleys. Nelson itself grew as a small industrial and mining settlement, one of many strung along the valleys north of Cardiff, and the surrounding countryside has since reverted largely to farmland and woodland. The club's postcode, CF46 6ST, sits within that transitional landscape between old industrial villages and open hill country. For golfers based in Cardiff or across the wider valleys, Whitehall is reached along quieter rural roads rather than a main route, part of a stretch of Wales where former colliery towns now sit among green, reclaimed hillsides.
