Cathcart Castle Golf Club, established in 1895, is one of the older clubs in the Glasgow area and its 18-hole course was laid out by James Braid, whose parkland designs remain a defining feature of golf around the city. Playing to a par of 70 from the men's tees, the course includes six par-3 holes, giving golfers a reasonable number of chances to record a good score across the round. The back nine opens with a long par 4 that carries out of bounds down the right-hand side, a hazard that continues to threaten play through several of the following holes.
