About Saddleworth Golf Club

Saddleworth Golf Club sits above the village of Uppermill, on exposed moorland straddling the Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire border. The elevated position gives the course sweeping views across the Pennine hills that surround Saddleworth, with the open, upland terrain making wind and weather a regular factor in how the course plays. This part of the Pennines is known for its steep valleys and high moorland tops, and the golf course sits well up into that landscape rather than in the sheltered valley below, giving it a notably different character to the parkland courses more common around Oldham and Rochdale. Uppermill itself is one of the villages that make up the wider Saddleworth area, known for its stone architecture and its position along the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, and the golf club's elevated setting adds to the area's reputation for dramatic Pennine scenery. The exposed nature of the course means conditions can change quickly, and golfers should expect a physically demanding round given the terrain and altitude. For those exploring the Saddleworth villages or the wider Pennine border country, the golf club offers a genuinely upland test within a short drive of Oldham and the western edge of Yorkshire.
