Langdon Hills Golf Club lies at Bulphan, a small Essex village between Basildon and the Thames estuary crossing at Grays, in the borough of Thurrock. The wider district has a long agricultural history, with the heavy London clay soils of the region traditionally given over to arable farming and grazing. The M25 and A13 both pass within a few miles, giving the area straightforward road access from London and the Thames Gateway towns, while the Langdon Hills themselves offer views across the estuary towards Kent on clear days. Golf here is played against this backdrop of ridge and marsh landscape typical of south Essex.
