About Nevill Golf Club

Nevill Golf Club's course has passed through the hands of four significant figures in golf course design and play over its history: Willie Park Jnr, Harry Colt, James Braid and Henry Cotton each contributed to shaping the layout at different points. That sequence of involvement places Nevill among a small group of English courses touched by more than one of the leading architects and players of the early and mid-twentieth century. The club itself points to the quality of its putting surfaces as the feature that now defines a round, describing them as fast and true and rating them among the best kept in Kent. The course sits on Benhall Mill Road on the edge of Tunbridge Wells, with a pro shop and visitor information available for golfers arranging a round away from their home club. Given the succession of well-known names connected with its design, Nevill offers a course shaped by more than a century of changing ideas about how a round should be routed and defended, rather than a single architect's unaltered original layout.
