Cosby Golf Club

Cosby Golf Club was founded in 1895 and is based on Chapel Lane in Cosby, a village in the East Midlands around seven miles from junction 21 of the M1. The course is a mature parkland layout, and the club also runs a covered, floodlit nine-bay driving range alongside further practice facilities, giving members options for practice beyond the course itself. Bar and catering facilities are available before and after rounds. The club has traced other British clubs founded in the same year, 1895, and arranged reciprocal visiting rights with a number of them, reflecting an interest in its own history that goes beyond the course itself. Golfers and visitors are asked to follow a dress code and to keep buggies off tees, greens and the sloping ground leading up to them, while access to the twelfth hole is routed back from the eleventh via a gate and hedge line, a detail that points to the more varied, undulating character of parts of the layout. Cosby village lies in south Leicestershire amid gently rolling farmland, and the club's long history and range of practice facilities have made it a well-established fixture for golfers across the wider Leicester area.
