Who We Are

GeoGolf Course ("we", "us", "our") operates geogolfcourse.co.uk, a directory of golf courses across the UK. We are a UK-based business, and our contact email is support@geogolfcourse.co.uk. If you have questions about this policy, that email is the fastest way to reach us.

What Data We Collect

When you register an account we collect your email address and an optional display name. We also keep a hashed version of your password, since we never store it in plain text. When you submit a course listing we collect the course details you provide. When you review a course we store your rating and any review text, linked to your account.

How We Use Your Data

We use your email to log you into your account and, if you buy a featured listing, to manage your subscription with Stripe. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process account data under our contract with you, since running the directory needs your email and password. We only process cookie and analytics data where you give consent, because that is the legal basis UK GDPR sets for non-essential cookies. Where we ask for extra information, such as a review or a display name, we rely on your consent to publish it.

Cookies

We set one first-party session cookie (gg_session) when you log in. This cookie is HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and expires after 7 days. Because it only keeps you signed in, it carries no ad or tracking data, and we do not use third-party tracking cookies.

Third-Party Services

Stripe handles payment processing for featured listings; you can read their privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy. Stripe is a global firm. If you pay for a featured listing, your payment may therefore cross borders outside the UK, under Stripe's own safeguards. We use OpenStreetMap, via Leaflet, for maps, and we send OpenStreetMap no personal data when you view one.

Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account stays active. Once you close your account, we delete your personal data within a reasonable time. You can ask for deletion at any time by emailing support@geogolfcourse.co.uk, and we will confirm once we have finished.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to see, correct, limit, or delete the personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to get a copy of your data in a portable file. Since UK law guarantees these rights, using them costs nothing — email support@geogolfcourse.co.uk and we will reply within one month, as UK GDPR requires. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children's Privacy

GeoGolf Course is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If we learn that a child has made an account, we will delete it as soon as we find out.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new feature that changes what data we collect. We update the date at the top of this page whenever we make a change. Check back if you want the latest version.
