Glen Gorse Golf Club

Glen Gorse Golf Club is in Oadby, the town immediately south-east of Leicester that has effectively grown into one of the city's largest suburbs while keeping its own separate identity and council. The course sits in mature parkland typical of this part of south Leicestershire, where wooded estates and farmland separate Oadby from the villages of Great Glen and Wistow further along the Leicester to Market Harborough road. Leicestershire's landscape here is gently undulating rather than hilly, with clay soils that support both arable farming and the belts of established trees found on many of the county's older golf courses. Oadby itself developed through the twentieth century as Leicester expanded south-eastward, but retains pockets of older parkland, including the grounds the club now occupies, within reach of the open countryside of the Leicestershire Wolds beginning a few miles further south.
