Hebden Bridge Golf Club

Hebden Bridge Golf Club occupies an elevated site in the West Yorkshire Pennines above the town, a nine-hole course played from two sets of tees to give a full eighteen-hole round. Several holes cross a steep-sided ravine known locally as Bessie's Gully, including the second and eleventh, where the carry from the tee is little more than 80 yards but remains a daunting shot even for capable golfers. The course includes a mix of testing par fours, among them a driveable short hole at around 290 to 300 yards and, at just under 400 yards, the longest hole on the course, which plays uphill for its full length. Two par threes are built into the routing, the shorter of the pair barely over 100 yards but played entirely uphill, demanding careful club selection. From high points on the back nine, much of the course is visible below, with greens set some way beneath the tee. The steep, undulating terrain typical of the Calder Valley gives Hebden Bridge a distinctive upland character, with sloping fairways and greens throughout the round rewarding accurate, controlled shot-making over raw length.
