Leeds Golf Centre offers an 18-hole course at Shadwell, on the north-eastern edge of Leeds where the city's suburbs give way to the Wharfe valley countryside towards Wetherby and Harrogate. Shadwell itself is a village that has been drawn into Leeds' outer suburban ring, but the land immediately around it remains largely rural, part of a belt of farmland and scattered woodland that separates the built-up city from the smaller towns of lower Wharfedale. This position gives the centre a genuinely rural backdrop despite sitting only a few miles from Leeds city centre, with the A58 and A61 both providing routes into the city as well as out towards Wetherby and the A1(M). The wider area sits on the southern fringe of the Yorkshire Dales' lower approaches, where the terrain begins to soften from the higher moorland further north into the gentler farmland typical of this stretch of West Yorkshire.
