Leighton Buzzard Golf Club

🤍

Leighton Buzzard sits where Bedfordshire meets Buckinghamshire, a market town built around the old coaching route between London and the Midlands and now better known for its narrow-gauge railway and its sand and clay pits, remnants of a once-substantial quarrying industry. The surrounding countryside is gently undulating, shaped by the greensand ridge that runs through this part of the county, giving the land a mix of light, well-drained soil and mixed woodland. A golf club in this location draws on that landscape, sandy subsoil that clears quickly after rain, and a setting close enough to the Chiltern Hills to the south to pick up some of their character without sitting directly on the escarpment. Leighton Buzzard's position on the county boundary means the club serves golfers from both sides of the Bedfordshire-Buckinghamshire line, as well as those travelling up from the Chilterns or across from Milton Keynes, which lies a short distance to the north-west along the same greensand corridor.
