Peel Golf Club

Peel Golf Club is based in Peel, a fishing port on the west coast of the Isle of Man, historically the island's main harbour on that side and still home to a working fleet. The town is best known for Peel Castle, standing on St Patrick's Isle just off the harbour and connected to the mainland by a causeway, along with a long tradition of curing kippers that once made Peel synonymous with smoked herring across the British Isles. The west coast setting means the town, and the golf club within it, face directly out across the Irish Sea towards the coast of Northern Ireland and the Mourne Mountains on a clear day. Golf on this side of the Isle of Man tends to make use of the coastal terrain that runs along much of the island's shoreline, distinct from the more sheltered inland courses found around Douglas. Peel's combination of harbour, castle and beach gives visiting golfers plenty to explore beyond a round of golf, and the town's position roughly midway along the island's western coast makes it a reasonably central base for anyone planning to play more than one of the island's courses during a stay. The island's compact size keeps travel times between courses short regardless of where a visitor chooses to be based.
