Pike Fold Golf Club

🤍

Pike Fold Golf Club sits on the northern edge of Manchester's built-up area, close to the boundary with Bury, in a part of Greater Manchester where suburban streets give way relatively quickly to farmland and the lower slopes leading toward the West Pennine Moors. The area around Pike Fold has historically sat between Blackley and the town of Bury, a stretch of land that has long served as a green buffer between the two, and golf courses established here typically make use of that in-between ground rather than either dense urban plots or open moorland. Bury itself, a few miles to the north, is a former mill town that grew rapidly during the Industrial Revolution before settling into its current role as a residential and market town within Greater Manchester. Golfers based around Pike Fold, Blackley or the southern edge of Bury have a course within this transitional landscape, offering a round without needing to travel far from the city's northern suburbs. As with several clubs along this corridor, the setting reflects the layered history of the area, farmland and former estate ground absorbed gradually into the wider Manchester conurbation over the twentieth century.
