Pontypridd Golf Club

🤍

Pontypridd Golf Club sits above the town of Pontypridd, at the point where the Rhondda and Taff valleys converge in the South Wales Valleys, under postcode CF37. Pontypridd grew up around this river confluence during the nineteenth-century coal boom, and its town centre still carries the legacy of that industrial era, including the historic Old Bridge across the Taff. The valleys either side of the town, the Rhondda to the west and the upper Taff to the north, were once dense with collieries and terraced housing climbing the hillsides, and much of that steep, folded landscape remains, now given over to woodland and reclaimed hillside rather than industry. A course positioned above the confluence sits well up the valley side, above the town itself, in keeping with the hill-hugging layout common to golf clubs built in this part of the Valleys. Pontypridd remains a significant town for the wider Rhondda Cynon Taf area, with transport links running south towards Cardiff.
