Scraptoft Golf Club
Scraptoft Golf Club is located in the village of Scraptoft, on the north-eastern edge of Leicester. The village sits close to Leicester's ring of suburbs, in the belt of farmland that separates the city from the market towns of east Leicestershire, and near Bradgate Park, one of the county's best-known areas of ancient parkland and rocky outcrops. Leicestershire's countryside around Leicester tends toward gently rolling farmland and hedged fields, ground that has supported a number of golf clubs on the city's outskirts over the past century. Scraptoft's position gives members and visitors a course within easy reach of Leicester itself while still sitting in open countryside rather than a built-up suburb. The village takes its name from Old English roots referring to a homestead, and like many settlements on Leicester's fringe it has grown alongside the city while retaining a distinct rural edge. Its location close to Bradgate Park places it within one of the more scenic corners of the county, near the granite outcrops and ancient oaks for which the park is known.
