Vale of Llangollen Golf Club takes its name from the valley of the River Dee in Denbighshire, north-east Wales, an area better known to most visitors for the town of Llangollen itself, home to the annual International Eisteddfod and the Llangollen Canal, both close by. Denbighshire runs from the Dee valley up towards the eastern edge of Snowdonia, taking in the Horseshoe Pass and a mix of farmland and wooded hillside, and the club has been established here since 1908, making it well over a century old. No town is listed against the club's own postcode, LL20 7PR, which sits within the wider Llangollen area rather than a single named settlement. Golfers combining a round here with a stay in the valley are within a short drive of the canal, the ruins of Castell Dinas Brân above the town, and the road routes north into Snowdonia and south towards Oswestry and the English border.
