Bearwood Lakes Golf Club

🤍

Bearwood Lakes occupies part of the historic Bearwood Estate near Wokingham, ground that was once attached to Windsor Great Park before it passed into private ownership. The course opened in 1996, though the surrounding woodland long predates it, having developed over centuries before the layout was cut through it. The design covers around 200 acres in total, with roughly 50 of those acres given over to the lakes and stands of trees the course winds between. Greens were built to full USGA specification, a construction standard aimed at consistent drainage and putting surfaces regardless of weather. Membership is the primary route to playing here; the club operates for members and their invited guests rather than as an open pay-and-play venue, though it does host private functions for non-members on request. Off the course, the clubhouse serves food prepared on site and provides a base for golfers before and after a round. The estate's position within Berkshire places it among the wooded country to the west of Wokingham, an area that retains a good deal of its historic tree cover despite being within commuting distance of both Reading and London.
