Chiddingfold Golf Club, on Petworth Road in Surrey, changed its format in 2024, moving from a full 18-hole layout to a shorter 12-hole course aimed at golfers wanting a quicker round. The change echoed the format of golf's oldest championship, which itself began as a 12-hole event, and the club has built its offering around pace and flexibility rather than a full day out. Alongside the main course there is a five-hole academy loop and a practice range, both aimed at newer players working on their game. An afternoon round, from 1pm, carries a green fee of 20 pounds, and the club also runs an annual Players Card at 350 pounds that allows unlimited golf with reduced green fees for a year, plus a discounted junior version for under-18s. Buggies, clubs and trolleys can all be hired on site. A terrace overlooking the course serves food, including a tapas-style evening menu, and bookings can be made by phone, online or via WhatsApp. The club sits near Godalming in the Surrey countryside within reach of London, positioning itself as a value option among the area's pay-and-play courses.
