Disley Golf Club

Disley Golf Club has stood on the Cheshire and Derbyshire border since 1889, making it one of the older golf clubs in the North West of England. The 18-hole course occupies elevated ground with views stretching across the Cheshire plain in one direction and towards the Pennines in the other, a position that gives the round a genuine sense of place rather than a generic parkland backdrop. Multiple tee options bring the course anywhere from around 5,000 yards up to over 6,000, depending on which set is played, allowing the club to offer a manageable test for higher handicappers alongside a longer challenge for stronger players from the back markers. The club supports a full calendar of social activity beyond the golf itself, and continues to welcome new members, visiting societies and corporate groups alongside its established playing membership. Its location near Stockport places it within easy reach of Manchester, while the surrounding countryside keeps the course feeling rural despite that proximity to a major conurbation. More than 130 years after its founding, Disley has retained the essential character of a traditional English hillside course, shaped as much by the terrain it sits on as by any deliberate design choices made when it was first laid out.
