Drayton Park Golf Club was created in 1992 to a design by the Oxfordshire-based architects Hawtree & Sons, and the eighteen-hole course near Tamworth has continued to mature since. Large, sand-based greens built in an American style are a defining feature, intended to give consistent, well-drained putting surfaces through the year regardless of weather. The layout favours accurate placement over raw length, with narrower fairways bordered by short rough putting a premium on driving accuracy. The card includes three dogleg par fours, three demanding par fives and six par threes, giving a varied test across the round. The opening hole asks players to avoid a fairway bunker in order to leave a straightforward approach and an early chance at par. As a relatively modern course, Drayton Park was built with contemporary agronomy and drainage in mind, distinguishing its playing surfaces from older, more traditional West Midlands parkland layouts. The club runs a pro shop, membership and society programme alongside its visitor green-fee offering, with tee time information and scorecards published for players preparing for a round.
