Hillsborough Golf Club
Hillsborough Golf Club takes its name from the Sheffield suburb where it is based, an area in the north-west of the city within reasonable reach of the Peak District to the west. Sheffield is one of England's hillier cities, built across several valleys where the Rivers Don and Sheaf converge, with land rising quickly towards the Peak District boundary on the city's north-western side. Sheffield has a long-standing golf tradition, supported by its proximity to open moorland and by a historically prosperous steel-industry population that sustained a number of private clubs through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
