Oaksey Park Golf & Leisure Club
Oaksey Park Golf & Leisure Club is close to Malmesbury, on the Wiltshire and Gloucestershire border in the countryside north of the Cotswold Water Park. This part of the region sits at the edge of the Cotswolds proper, where the limestone hills flatten out into the gravel country around the upper Thames, and the Water Park's network of flooded former quarry lakes lies only a short distance to the south. Malmesbury itself is often described as England's oldest borough, built around a hilltop abbey founded in the seventh century, and the surrounding villages are typical Cotswold stone settlements. The area draws visitors for watersports on the Water Park's lakes as well as golf, and the wider Cotswolds landscape of dry-stone walls, honey-coloured villages and open wold farmland extends north and west from here towards Cirencester and Tetbury. Oaksey Park's grounds combine golf facilities with leisure use, reflecting the mixed rural economy of this corner of north Wiltshire.
