Palacerigg Golf Club

Palacerigg Golf Club was established in 1975 within Palacerigg Country Park on the edge of Cumbernauld in North Lanarkshire, and its 18 holes were laid out by former Open champion Henry Cotton. The course runs across open, heather-covered moorland rather than the parkland more typical of the area, giving it a distinctive character among the golf clubs of central Scotland. Because it sits inside a working country park, the ground supports a wide range of wildlife, and views extend out across the surrounding countryside towards the hills that ring Cumbernauld. The club runs a full programme of competitions across the year alongside an active social calendar, and it maintains a mix of member and visitor play, with both groups drawn to the combination of a challenging design and an unusually natural, undeveloped setting. Cumbernauld itself sits roughly midway between Glasgow and Stirling, and Palacerigg's position within the country park keeps it a short drive from the town while feeling considerably more remote than its location suggests. Members here have access to organised teams and open competitions, reflecting a club culture built as much around social golf as around competitive play.
