Redbourn Golf Club's 18-hole course sits close to St Albans, on ground just north-west of the city along the old Roman road toward Dunstable. Redbourn village itself lies within the belt of commuter towns and villages that ring London to the north, in an area where the chalky, rolling ground of the Chilterns' eastern fringe gives way gradually to flatter clay vales further north. St Albans' own history as a Roman and later medieval city, built around Verulamium and its abbey, gives the wider district a strong sense of place beyond the newer commuter development that has grown up around it. Redbourn's position close to the M1 keeps the club within reach of a large catchment stretching from St Albans and Harpenden through to Luton and the surrounding borderlands, making it accessible to golfers across this corner of eastern England without depending on a single town for its membership.
