Reigate Hill Golf Club

Reigate Hill Golf Club takes its name from the steep chalk scarp above Reigate, where the North Downs rise sharply out of the Surrey lowlands close to the M25's crossing of the downs. The RH2 postcode covers the northern part of the town, within reach of Gatton Park and the vineyard country that has developed on the downland's chalk soils further along the ridge towards Dorking. Reigate itself grew as a market town beneath the downs and later as a commuter town for London, and the hill above it forms part of a near-continuous belt of chalk grassland and woodland stretching from Box Hill in the west to Merstham and beyond in the east. The club sits within this downland terrain that has supported golf across the North Downs for well over a century. Redhill and the M23 corridor lie close by to the south-east, and Gatwick Airport is within a short drive, making the area one of the better-connected pockets of the Surrey Downs.
