Sedlescombe Golf Club

Sedlescombe is a small village in East Sussex, a few miles inland from Hastings and close to the site of the Battle of Hastings at nearby Battle, in a landscape of rolling Wealden farmland, oast houses and ancient hedgerows characteristic of this part of the county. The club plays over eighteen holes to a par of 71, set among the low hills and clay soils of the High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that stretches across much of inland East Sussex and Kent. This is sheep and dairy country as much as arable land, with the sandstone ridges and stream valleys of the Weald giving the area a more folded, wooded character than the open coastal strip a few miles to the south. Golfers here are within easy reach of both the historic town of Battle and the Sussex coast at Hastings and Bexhill, while the village of Sedlescombe itself retains the timber-framed buildings and village green typical of the older Wealden settlements that dot this corner of the county.
