Silverstone Golf Club
Silverstone Golf Club lies near Stowe in north Buckinghamshire, in the countryside surrounding Buckingham and close to the county's border with Northamptonshire, an area better known nationally for the Silverstone motor-racing circuit a few miles to the north from which the club takes its name. Stowe itself is home to Stowe School and its eighteenth-century landscape gardens, and the wider district is characterised by gently rolling farmland and small villages rather than dense woodland. This part of Buckinghamshire sits within reach of the M1 and A43, drawing golfers travelling between the Midlands and the south-east. The county's courses tend to occupy the low, undulating clay vale that separates the Chiltern escarpment to the south from the limestone country of Northamptonshire to the north, terrain that lends itself to parkland-style layouts of established trees and open fairways rather than heathland or coastal golf. It is a setting defined more by open farmland than by hills.
