South Staffs Golf Club
South Staffs Golf Club lies on the western edge of Wolverhampton, in the WV6 postcode that also covers Wightwick and Tettenhall, where the city's suburbs give way to rolling Staffordshire countryside close to the Shropshire border. The area sits on the edge of the Smestow Valley, a wooded corridor running out towards Kinver and the Severn valley, and much of the surrounding land retains the mix of pasture and mature woodland typical of this part of the West Midlands' rural fringe. Wolverhampton itself grew as an industrial city through the nineteenth century, but its western approaches, where the club is set, remained largely agricultural and still carry that character today, with country lanes and hedgerowed fields separating it from the built-up centre a few miles east. The club draws both a resident membership and visiting golfers making use of its position just off the main routes linking Wolverhampton to the Staffordshire and Shropshire countryside beyond.
