Welshpool Golf Club

🤍

Welshpool Golf Club is set close to the market town of Welshpool, in the Severn Valley near the Wales-England border in Powys. The wider area is known for its position between the Cambrian Mountains to the west and the Shropshire lowlands to the east, giving the region a mix of upland and valley scenery that has drawn golfers from across the border for generations. A significant number of visitors travelling to play here come from the West Midlands, taking advantage of the town's road links along the A458 and A483 corridors that connect mid-Wales to Shrewsbury and beyond. The course itself makes use of this varied landscape, with holes set out across ground that rises and falls in keeping with the valley's contours, offering views over the surrounding countryside from several points on the course. Welshpool itself has a long market history, with its livestock market and Georgian townscape reflecting its role as a hub for the surrounding farming communities. The golf club forms part of the town's recreational offering alongside its historic sites, including nearby Powis Castle, and continues to attract both local members and golfers passing through mid-Wales on wider trips through the borders.
