Whittington Heath Golf Club, an 18-hole course founded in 1886, is set on heathland just outside Lichfield in Staffordshire. Lichfield is one of England's smaller cathedral cities, its three-spired medieval cathedral still dominating a compact historic centre, and the surrounding countryside blends farmland with the sandy heath and woodland that gives the club's home village its name. The area lies between Birmingham's northern edge and the more open Staffordshire countryside further north, close to where the A38 and A51 cross, putting it within easy reach of the West Midlands conurbation as well as the cathedral city itself. Green fees run from £70 up to £95, placing it towards the higher end of the regional range and reflecting a course that has been established for well over a century. Its 1886 founding makes it one of the older clubs in this part of Staffordshire, predating much of the residential growth that has since spread around Lichfield's edges.
