Himley Hall Golf Centre
Himley Hall Golf Centre sits close to Himley village, on the western edge of Dudley in the Black Country. The wider parish is dominated by Himley Hall itself, a Georgian mansion that was for centuries the seat of the Earls of Dudley, set within a landscaped park of lakes and woodland now open to the public as a country park. Dudley grew up around limestone quarrying, ironworking and the wider industrial expansion of the West Midlands, and the borough still holds Dudley Castle, a zoo built into the castle grounds, and the Black Country Living Museum, which recreates the region's mining and manufacturing past. The golf centre lies within reach of Wolverhampton to the north and the Staffordshire border to the west, in an area where former industrial land has given way to parkland, reservoirs and pockets of farmland. Visitors travelling from either the Dudley or Wolverhampton side of the conurbation can reach the course without crossing the busier parts of the Black Country, making the area a convenient stop for anyone combining a round of golf with the region's mix of heritage sites and open green space.
