Aldeburgh Golf Club

Aldeburgh sits on the Suffolk coast and dates to 1884, making it one of the oldest maritime heathland layouts in England. The main 18-hole Championship Course plays to a par of 70 for men, 74 for women, and stretches from 6,916 yards off the back tees down to 5,025 from the forward markers. Mackenzie and Ebert carried out a significant rebuild of the layout in recent years. Built on sand rather than clay, the ground drains freely and several holes play like a links course even though the club sits inland of the dunes. A separate nine-hole River Course gives members and visitors a shorter option alongside the championship layout. The club runs its own calendar of open events, among them the Aldeburgh Spoon for women and the Seaton Robson, a fixture in Suffolk's county order of merit. Aldeburgh itself is a small town on this stretch of coastline, and the club has operated continuously through more than a century of change in the area.
