Brailsford Golf Club

Brailsford Golf Club plays over eighteen holes to a par of 69 across 5,758 yards, a shorter course by modern standards, in the countryside near Ashbourne on the southern edge of the Peak District. Ashbourne is often described as the gateway to Dovedale and the White Peak, a limestone landscape of dry valleys and dales that gives way, further north, to the darker gritstone moors of the Dark Peak. The village of Brailsford itself sits in the gentler, rolling farmland of south Derbyshire, closer to the flatter Trent valley than to the exposed high ground of the National Park proper, giving the course a more sheltered setting than many of the Peak District's better-known clubs. This part of Derbyshire has long combined dairy farming with quarrying of the local limestone, and the county's mix of upland and lowland golf reflects that same divide between the high Peak and its softer southern approaches.
