Cannington Golf Course lies just outside Bridgwater in Somerset, a county best known for the Somerset Levels, the Quantock Hills and a coastline running along the Bristol Channel. The 18-hole course plays to a par of 68 over 6,127 yards, a shorter, tighter test than many full-length parkland layouts, which tends to put a premium on accuracy over sheer distance. Bridgwater itself sits between the Quantocks to the west and the low-lying Levels to the east, a market town with a long industrial and maritime history tied to the River Parrett. Cannington, the village after which the course is named, lies a few miles further north-west, closer to the Quantock foothills, giving the area a more rural, undulating character than the flat farmland typical of much of the Somerset Levels. Golfers travelling from Bridgwater along the A39 will find the course within a short drive of the coast at Watchet and the market town of Taunton to the south.
