Chichester College Brinsbury Campus

🤍

Chichester College's Brinsbury campus sits outside Pulborough in West Sussex, in the Arun valley on the southern edge of the Weald. Pulborough itself grew up at a crossing point of the River Arun, on the old Roman Stane Street route between Chichester and London, and today the village serves as a local centre for the surrounding farmland and the low-lying country of the Wildbrooks nature reserve nearby. The wider area sits between the South Downs to the south and the sandstone ridges of the Weald to the north, a landscape historically given over to mixed farming, hop growing and, more recently, vineyards, reflecting the light, well-drained soils found across much of West Sussex. Brinsbury itself has long been associated with land-based college courses, agriculture and countryside management among them, and the campus occupies a rural site typical of the area's smallholdings and farm buildings. Pulborough lies within reach of Petworth to the north-east and Arundel to the south, both historic towns built around country estates, and the district is crossed by the Arun and its tributaries, which have shaped the settlement pattern and the low-lying grazing land around the village.
