Farrington Golf & Country Club

🤍

Farrington Golf & Country Club is near Paulton, in the Somerset countryside roughly midway between Bristol and Bath, on the northern edge of the Mendip Hills. This part of north Somerset was historically coal-mining country, part of the Somerset coalfield that stretched from Radstock to Paulton, before the pits closed through the twentieth century and the land reverted to farming and leisure use. The BS39 postcode places the club within the old coalfield belt, close to the villages of Farrington Gurney, Clutton and High Littleton, with the limestone plateau of the Mendips rising a few miles to the south towards Chewton Mendip and Cheddar. The club's grounds include lakes formed in the low-lying ground typical of this former mining landscape, alongside mature tree planting characteristic of country estates converted to golf and leisure use. Bristol lies around ten miles to the north and Bath a similar distance to the east.
