Freshwater Bay Golf Club is set on Afton Down, on the western tip of the Isle of Wight, with the course laid out across downland overlooking the English Channel. The 18-hole layout takes in coastal views from a number of its holes, a product of its position on open down rather than a sheltered inland site. Visitors are accommodated alongside the membership, with rates kept accessible and tee times available to book in advance rather than restricted to members only. The green-keeping team maintains the course to a standard members and visitors are both asked to help preserve, taking care with pitch marks, divots and general course etiquette as part of using the facility. The club also supports societies and groups looking to organise larger outings, alongside a live webcam that lets prospective visitors check conditions before travelling. Freshwater itself sits at the quieter western end of the Isle of Wight, away from the more built-up resorts further east, and the surrounding downland is part of a coastline known for its chalk cliffs and views towards the Needles. That combination of an exposed downland course and a genuinely coastal outlook gives Freshwater Bay a character distinct from the more sheltered parkland courses found elsewhere on the island.
Freshwater Bay Golf Club plays over 18 holes.
