Garnant Park Golf Club

Garnant Park Golf Club is based in Garnant, a village in the Amman Valley, in the county of Glamorgan, south Wales. The valley sits at the western edge of the old South Wales coalfield, an area where mining shaped both the landscape and the settlement pattern for well over a century, leaving a string of close-knit villages strung along the valley floor with hills rising steeply on either side. Garnant itself grew up around the anthracite coal industry, and the surrounding hills, now largely reclaimed by grassland and forestry, still carry the marks of that past in their terracing and old spoil tips. Golf in the south Wales valleys has traditionally made use of this hillier terrain, with courses following the natural contours rather than flat open parkland. The wider area remains popular with golfers exploring the valleys inland from Swansea and Llanelli.
